Free Me

Modern Tbilisi, Georgia is not as free as present day Atlanta, Georgia in the USA, although it is a good refuge for those suffering oppression in other lands.

Recently a provocative young artist, Maje and her sister, Elham, who sometimes poses as her semi nude model arrived in Tbilisi. They are in self-imposed exile from their motherland, Iran. A country known for its aggressive stance toward its neighbors and citizens that step out of line.

The two sisters managed to travel to the outside world, seeking freedom and a better life. Her art and creative writing have since been banned back home and they should never return there or suffer the consequences of her unappreciated approach to her art. The reason being, it includes nudity and satire pointed at organized religion. More than likely, her art is not ready for public celebration in Tbilisi as here it is also a religious and traditional culture. However, it is a much more tolerant culture than where she came from. At least the sisters are physically safe here.

Although Atlanta, Georgia would afford much more freedom of expression for the rebel pair, immigration to the USA remains a challenge for many. Especially, when hailing from a foreign state with a complicated relationship with the free world.
